Things are about to get a little crazy at Next-Gen…
I love the October long weekend.
Even as a kid, it was never really a time of year we’d go away or do anything particularly special. But I’ve always loved it. It’s that first real hint of beautiful weather, a little bit of time off work, and a much-needed breather before the mad rush towards Christmas.
This year was particularly nice. I got to spend heaps of quality time with my kids, enjoy the beautiful weather and just switch off from work for a few days. It was amazing, and exactly what I needed! And yes, before anyone asks, I’m still absolutely heartbroken about the Knights. I’m not ready to talk about it yet, and I’d appreciate everyone respecting my privacy during this difficult time (haha).
Anyway, moving on before I get emotional again… The only problem with long weekends? They create absolute chaos in the clinic!
I love having the Monday off as much as anyone, but somehow we still have the same number of patients trying to get in to see us, just with one less day to fit everyone in!
And to be fair, things are already pretty hectic at Next-Gen at the moment. I’m about to disappear on paternity leave any day now as we welcome baby girl number THREE, Dave is heading away for a few weeks, Zac is off to New Zealand in December, and Kels is heading off on maternity leave after Christmas.
SO. MUCH. GOING. ON.
It’s a funny thing though, because as chaotic as it all feels, I actually think it’s a pretty wonderful problem to have. We’re incredibly busy. Our appointment books are full, and when one of us isn’t around, it creates a bit of a logistical nightmare trying to make sure everyone gets looked after.
But that’s something I never want to take for granted. The fact that so many people choose to come and see us, trust us with their health, recommend us to their friends and family, and keep coming back when they need help is genuinely something we’re so grateful for. It’s a privilege to be this busy, even when it makes life a little crazy.
Anyway, the moral of this very long-winded story?
If you’ve been putting off getting something checked, dealing with a niggle that’s been hanging around, putting up with pain, or simply know you’re due for a review, please don’t leave it until the last minute!
Between babies, holidays, Christmas and everything else happening over the next few months, we’re going to have quite a few fewer appointments available than usual.
We’ll always do our best to squeeze everyone in, but a little bit of forward planning will go a long way!
And to everyone who continues to support us and trust us with their care, thank you. We really do appreciate it.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a third daughter arriving any minute and absolutely no idea how I’m going to survive being outnumbered FOUR to ONE at home.
Wish me luck. 😂
Tom
